The Travelling Gavel

On Wednesday the 19th of September a delegation went along to

Lodge St John No 540 Crossgates, to work a third degree, and challenged for the

Travelling Gavel.

On The 27th of Feb 2008 Lodge StJohn 540 Crossgates came along and worked an

Excellent Mark Degree for us. On that occasion they claimed back the Traveling Gavel, and it is

now on display in their Lodge awaiting the next challange

The Travelling Gavel was donated to the Brethren of the Province, to promote friendship within

the Province through visiting other Lodges.

The criteria for challenging for the Gavel is by way of visiting the Lodge that currently has the Gavel,

The visitation or deputation must consist of the Master or a Warden, along with seven other Brethren.

Whoever gets the Gavel, should notify the Brother who donated it as a matter of courtesy, full

instructions come with the Gavel

If on the same night there are two Lodges who have came to challenge for the Gavel, then the Lodge

which has travelled the furthest will take the Gavel back to their Lodge Rooms.

There are still quite a few Lodges throughout the Province who have not held the Gavel, so come on

Brethren you know where it is now!
